Read 9-12: annotate and answer questions
HW: Finish reading; annotations, answer questions
Guiding question: "To what extent does a creator have responsibility for its creation? When does the creation assume responsibility for its own actions?"

Check chapter 1-4 and 4-8 annotations. Within the next two weeks we need to see Smith about the Last Lecture to be sure our first and second parts will correlate. We signed up in smiths agenda during class.
Smiths unscheduled hours:
MWF-6
TH- 1, 4, and 6
Smith passed back our first part of “The last Lecture,” “The Fall of Satan” questions, and our quizzes from last week on letters 1-4.
The next thing we did, was discuss all of the questions from chapters 1-8. Every one had to answer 1 question from the sheet as we weaved around the classroom.
*Make sure you understand the first 8 chapters well.
---Overview:
The letters actually take place much later, with victor and elizabeth growing up, but then mom gets sick with scarlet fever and dies. Victor is away at school and develops an interest in Biology, natural science and almost witchcraft because he enjoyed seeing how different specimens would react if they crossed different body parts. For example giving a frog a tail or things like that. At this point Victor created the monster, but as soon as he finished creating it he knew that he made a mistake by making the monster.

After discussing chapters 1-8 we divided into groups of 2 or 3 and found one quote from each chapter (chapters 5-8) and we wrote the quote down and chose an emoji to put by it to show the emotional rollercoaster that had happened with in this book.

Friday, Feb 13th

  • She handed us the next quiz for chapters 5-8 in Frankenstein
  • Look at the differences in chapter 4 in Frankenstein
  • Watched an old video called "The real story of Frankenstein" and compared it to chapter four in the book. The difference was there was no witnesses in the book because he did it in his home but in the movie there were witnesses.
  • Since no one read, Mrs. Smith gave us the rest of the time to work and finish chapters and also work on chapter 5-8 as well so non of us get zeros. For homework we have to finish reading, annotate and answer all the questions.
  • Drew a family tree on the board to help us out with the confusion.
  • Turned in your Last Lecture Part 1

Today, we started by passing in our Last Lecture Part 1. Papers. We had to put the theme of our paper on the top and hand it it.

JACK SPILLED MRS. SMITHS STARBUCKS!!!

During class, we watched a movie clip of the old Frankenstein movie in black and white.
We discussed the similarities between the movie and the chapters we read for homework.

We also had to get into groups and make an "instagram" post. Using a picture that your group took, we had to find a quote relating to the feelings that Frankenstein would have been feeling during his discovery in chapter 4.

We also went over the reading that we did for homework, and if we had any questions about chapters, 1-4, that was the time to ask them.

Homework:
  • Read/Annotate chapter 5-9 for Wednesday.
  • Answer questions on question sheet we received from Mrs. Smith.
  •  Make an appointment with Mrs. Smith to go over your Last Lecture PT. 1 outside of class.
